I get asked this question quite a bit. With @home you can buy another IP to network your computers.  I did some research and my findings are below.

Network 2 Computers with another I.P see

2nd IP Network

You can also Network without bying another IP. When I sent email into the Newsgroups I received back these replies.

My Question:

  • I was reading the information on Sygate.

    1.  How long does it take to setup?
    2. How much of a learning curve?
    3. Does it share one i.p address or do you need to register for more?
    4. Is Sygate the only software a person needs to network 3 systems?

    Thanks

It should take less than a hour to get everything setup if you read the
documentation first.

>2. How much of a learning curve?

Zero learning curve... you should be able to put it to work as soon as you get it installed.

>3. Does it share one i.p address or do you need to register for more?

One IP is all you need, if you buy additional IP's you do not need Sygate.

>4. Is Sygate the only software a person needs to network 3 systems?

That should be all you need. So long as you read the install documentation you should have no problems. Once you get it installed and configured you just use the internet like normal.

Another question I had was about SECURITY and hackers getting into the system. Does Sygate stop this. The answer I got back was YES it acts as a firewall and your system is perfectly safe.

Sygates Home Page.

On a personal note. You must pay monthly on and 2nd IP from @Home. If you have @Home for a long period of time then it would cost you more money purchasing a 2nd IP then just purchasing Sygate out right. Sygate is the best way to go in my choice.

Another Way To Network

The Linksys Instant Broadband EtherFast Cable/DSL Router is the perfect option to connect multiple PCs to a high-speed Broadband Internet connection or to an Ethernet back-bone. Configurable as a DHCP server, the EtherFast Cable/DSL Router acts as the only externally recognized Internet device on your local area  network (LAN). The router can also be configured to block internal users' access to the Internet. A typical router relies on a hub or a switch to share its Internet connection, but the Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router channels this connection through the blazing, full duplex speed of its built-in EtherFast 10/100 4-Port Switch.
