Newsgroups are where people talk about many subjects. You can find programs or even pictures in Newsgroups. @Home for example has Newsgroups setup so you can ask questions on problems your having. If you are networking and have no idea how to do it. Then setup the Newsgroups. You will chat with other people who have had the same problems. Newsgroups are like having a library of information at your finger tips.

Setup Newsgroups In Outlook Express 5.0

1. Click TOOLS then Click ACCOUNTS

2. Click on NEWS TAB. If there is anything is in the white box then single click on them and REMOVE them all. Their should be nothing in this box.

3. Now click on ADD then click NEWS

4. What ever name you want. I would suggest and ALIAS here not your Real Name. This isn't mail now its Newsgroups.

5. Enter your e-mail address. To stop people from Spamming you I would suggest you place something like. [email protected]. This way if a spammer gets a hold if this e-mail address it will do him no good. At the bottom of the message I would place Remove NOTHOME to reply.

6. Type in "news" in the News Box and DON'T check the box that requires you to log in.

7. Congrats your now setup to get Newsgroups.  Lets show you how to get those now.

8. Click on TOOLS then click NEWSGROUPS.

9. Now click the button that says RESET LIST. This will download a very large file one time only. Its the list of all the Newsgroups. Very much like a T.V Guide.

10. You will now see this box. This could take 10 minutes or so. When its all done you can now SUBSCRIBE to what you wish to read.
